School Sport Victoria Girls Football Carnival

Hawthorn Football Club is committed to the growth and development of women’s football at all levels. The club was delighted to be involved in the recent girls’ football carnival organised by School Sport Victoria.

The carnival is a celebration of the women’s game and more than 400 grade 5 and 6 students across 20 schools in Melbourne’s east attended the event. Hawthorn jumped at the chance to support the future stars of women’s football and sent a contingent of our own VFLW team along to run clinics and present awards. Sarah Perkins, Bec Beeson, Claire Dyett, Sarah McNamara and Steph Caroll joined Hawka and Hawkette in making the day enjoyable, whilst passing on their knowledge to the next generation of female footballers.

The club also set up a stall where fan development packs and VFLW team posters were given away throughout the carnival.

School Sport Victoria ran an amazing event and the Hawks hope to continue to support the girls football carnival in Melbourne’s east for years to come.
