Coaching Forum - Female Football
Hawthorn Football Club hosted a coaching forum focussing on the development of female talent in Melbourne’s eastern region. Making use of the club’s facilities, close to 40 coaches attended the evening, all of which are currently coaching women’s football teams throughout Melbourne’s east.
Hawthorn’s VFLW Head Coach, Paddy Hill, presented his thoughts and expertise on coaching female athletes.
The Hawks VFLW Assistant Coach, Brett Alexander, delivered a session on skill development for female athletes.
Concluding the formalities, Hawthorn Football Club’s Football Operations and Strategy Manager, Rob McCartney, talked through the value of integrating teaching principles into coaching practices.
The forum was highly engaging and interactive with many coaches asking questions throughout and making the most of the knowledge of the experts in the room. Many left the forum confident that they had new knowledge and ideas to take back to their own club as per a range of feedback received.
“All presenters were great in their own right. Really good hearing from all of them and the specifics they went into. No doubt really valuable to all who attended."
“I went into the forum expecting to pick up at least one, possibly two tips, and I ended up learning several quality tips to improve my coaching skills.”
“Enjoyed the night and found it really valuable. All presenters we engaging and their use of real examples wasvery relatable. I'd definitely encourage our other coaches to attend anything similar planned in the future."
