New Exhibitions for 2017

Our annual tribute to three former players, They Made the Brown & Gold, honours the three past players on our current Board - Bruce Stevenson (1969-1974) played in the 1971 Premiership, Andrew Gowers (1988-94) played in the 1991 Premiership and former Captain, Richard Vandenberg (1998 – 2003) a member of the 1999 Night Premiership team.

The all-important Brownlow Cabinet has been refreshed to include our fifth Medallist, Sam Mitchell. Mitchell’s fifth Club Championship has seen him move to outright second place in the Best & Fairest Cabinet.

A new exhibit to be enjoyed is The Brown & Gold Family. This display pays tribute to players, officials and supporters. Long-serving Head Trainer Ken Goddard, former players Neil Ferguson and Ian Hinks, and 62-year member and Thornbird, Gaby Warren. Gaby kept all her membership tickets from 1955 to 2016 in a box, which can be seen in this exhibit. Goddard and his good friend and former player and property steward, Andy Angwin have their Jack Titus – Service to Football Awards on display.

Jarryd Roughead played his first game as Captain in Round 1. His guernsey from that game is displayed together with photographs of Roughead leading out the team.

Don’t forget your cameras for your next visit as we have two new figurines - our new Captain, Jarryd Roughead and the ever-popular Cyril Rioli. During the recent school holidays, over 280 visitors had their photos taken standing with their two heroes, Roughie and Cyril.
