Clarko's surprise visit

Students of remote schools within the Northern Territory received a welcome surprise earlier this week, when Alastair Clarkson arrived for an impromptu coaching session.

Hawthorn’s Next Generation Academy team had planned several school visits to help strengthen ties within the Katherine region and its surrounds, when Clarkson decided to spontaneously fly up and lend his support.

Clarkson and the NGA team travelled to remote locations like Timber Creek (three hours from Katherine, six hours from Darwin) to engage in a healthy living education session, some football training and a match simulation with young students.

Hawthorn’s NGA is attempting to improve the pathway to the AFL for younger footballers in Katherine while also helping improve the overall football program in the region.
